Out of the Ice
Changes have been in the wind over the last 24 hours. The plan of the day published last night listed an “On-Ice Brief/Deployment” at 0930. Boy, was that not in the cards. By 9:30 this morning, all we were seeing was car-sized chunks of white ice with newly frozen crust between them; by noon, as we traveled to the southwest, the ice was all but gone. Now we’re in the open water, and wow, things are different here.
