With veterans of many cruises aboard, you see a lot T-shirts from past expeditions (many times, I might add, on a 40-day voyage). When you go to sea, you are thrown into a situation with close quarters and high intensity. You eat together, work together, stress together, and relax together. And even though you may never again meet some of your shipmates on dry land or another ship, you won’t forget them. Polar Discovery’s “Today on the Ice” features eight photographs, and as fate would have it, we’ve had eight graduate students on the icebreaker Oden. They come from four countries, and we’d like to introduce them to you.
