It takes a village

In this hunt for hydrothermal vents on the seafloor beneath the Arctic Ocean, this expedition has had three main arrows in its quiver: the Conductivity/Temperature/Depth instrument (CTD), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), and a towed camera/sampling sled. On Wednesday, it used all of them on the same day for the first time. Supporting each one of those vehicles or instruments is a village of people, doing their part toward a common goal.
