It turned out to be a splendid day in the Arctic, though it didn’t start off too well. The Puma robotic vehicle also had its downs and ups. It went into the water late Monday, but a software glitch caused it to abort its mission soon afterward. One silver lining was that it was recovered relatively easily, with no drama and in a short time. The day’s other silver lining was that there were no clouds. The Arctic sun, if it comes out at all, seems to come out late in the day, around midnight. It is usually gone by what would be dawn back home and replaced by fog and clouds. Today, the sun stayed out most of the day.
